Suicide Rapid Response
In collaboration with Oregon Health Authority, and contracted with Lines For Life, OHC is a part of the state of Oregon’s Rapid Response Crisis team. The services OHC provides to school staff, students, and families include: care room support, universal screening for suicidality, safety planning, ongoing therapeutic support, consultation, and presentations on relevant topics (e.g. grief, risk assessment). As a member of the Rapid Response team for the state of Oregon, OHC strives to provide care and compassion when working with all student populations, families and staff at any schools we respond to affected by crisis.
Universal Screening
OHC provides school-wide Universal Screening for suicidality. Depending on if a student endorses suicidality or high-risk behaviors, OHC conducts safety planning with the student, followed by facilitation of care coordination with the school and family.
Big River Trainings
OHC is trained in every Big River program.
The Big River program is a statewide initiative sponsored by Oregon Health Authority to increase access to suicide prevention and intervention trainings. These trainings work to equip youth-serving professionals and community members with knowledge and skills to help prevent suicide.
Suicide Prevention Research
OHC is part of the University of Oregon Suicide Prevention Lab since 2019. OHC research roles include:
Implementation and Evaluation of Big River Programs, including Sources of Strength (i.e. Secondary, Elementary)
Quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis
Incentivizing stakeholders and vendors to participate in the implementation process across districts
Logic model development and survey programming
Conducted key-informant interviews and focus groups to research the impacts of climate change on youth mental health, particularly Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities. Read the published Oregon Health Authority report here.
Program Development
OHC partnered with Oregon Pediatric Society to adapt Youth SAVE curriculum for Young Adult populations. Youth SAVE for Young Adults equips professionals with the tools to virtually assess for — and intervene with — young adults ages 18 - 26 who have thoughts of suicide.
